What is Social Security Disability?

Social Security disability is an insurance program that was instituted by the Federal Government back in 1934 with the Social Security Act that protects people who are disabled from falling into poverty and not being able to pay their bills or to live. The disability insurance program was instituted for people who can no longer work in their old jobs or work in any job that might be available in the national economy. They can’t find one. They can’t work a full 40 hour week. There are problems completing a complete work day based on a number of factors. The disability program was created so that people would not have to live in poverty for the rest of their lives and that’s one of the few successful programs that the Federal Government has been able to stay with for almost 80 years now
