What should I do if a Social Security disability claim is denied?

When your Social Security or if your Social Security disability claim is denied, you need to appeal it within 60 days. Don't wait. You need to appeal it as soon as you get the denial. If you have an attorney, go see him. Your attorney should be carbon copied on the denial, and they typically will file an appeal immediately. They're not complicated until you get to the after-hearing level. Typically, all you need to tell the Social Security Administration in your case to appeal your case is that you disagree with their determination and that there are other reasons that they didn't consider and that they should consider them to determine whether or not you're disabled.
