What is the definition of disability used by Social Security?

There are many definitions of disability that's used by Social Security. There's either a determination of a medical disability or somebody is considered to be disabled if they are unable to engage in substantial gainful activity essentially their normal work for at least a period of 12 months. That is the threshold determination of disability by the Social Security Administration. It does get a little bit more technical after that and I would suggest you contact counsel if you think your disability issues may require that definition to be explained if you qualify.
