How long do I have to apply?

Return to Video Gallery

In order to apply for your benefits, you shouldn’t wait. You can wait as long as you want, but if you wait too long, you maybe be on something known as your DLI, your Date of Last Insurance. If you’re beyond your Date of Last Insurance, you no longer have any SSDI benefits to get.

If you wait too long, if you wait for more than five years after you’ve been working full time on the books, to file for your Social Security disability claim, you may have waited too long in order to prove your case.
