If I had a problem with alcohol or drug abuse in my past, will I be questioned about it?

Yes. Since continued use of these addictive substances is a grounds for denying you benefits and it is a reason why you cannot get an on the record decision without a hearing before an ALJ, you will be asked about your drug and alcohol use or abuse. You may be asked if you drink any alcoholic beverages? What, and how often? Have you ever lost your license to drive or a job because of drugs or alcohol or undergone treatment for drugs or alcoholism? Or, have you ever been told you should undergo treatment for alcoholism?
