Carol J. Young Wilson - An Excellent Disability Attorney
Admitted to practice in Florida, Pennsylvania, and before the United States Supreme Court.
Carol has been a practicing attorney for 29 years, most all of which have been dedicated to the representation of the indigent or disabled. Her professional experiences are wide and diverse, including litigation in the administrative, trial and appellate levels, as well as teaching as an instructor at Temple University School of Law.
Carol was graduated from Brown University in 1976, with honors, and from Villanova University School of Law in 1979, where she was an editor and published writer for the Villanova Law Review. After graduating from law school, she was admitted to the Pennsylvania bar. She thereafter began her legal career by entering private practice in Philadelphia and thereafter working in the area of federal criminal litigation. Thereafter she relocated and began representing the indigent and disabled as a Legal Services attorney in northern New Hampshire, traveling hundreds of miles throughout three counties in order to serve her clients. In 1983, she became a member of the Florida Bar and worked as an attorney for Legal Services of Greater Miami. Thereafter she became an assistant public defender in the trial and appellate divisions, representing thousands of clients at various levels of the criminal justice process. Having litigated criminal trials for over five and a half years in West Palm Beach and Miami, Carol began working as a criminal appellate lawyer in 1990.
In addition to her disability practice and federal appeals, Carol has handled over four hundred state court appeals, resulting in over 150 reported decisions in Florida. She has argued cases on multiple occasions before the Florida Supreme Court and Florida District Courts of Appeal for the Second, Third and Fourth Districts, and has argued numerous cases in person before the various judges of these courts. She has petitioned the United States Supreme Court for writs of certiorari and responded to such petitions filed against her clients. Carol is a member of the state bar associations for Florida and Pennsylvania, as well as the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, the United States District Courts for the Southern Court of Florida, and the Middle District of Florida. She is also a member of the private bar associations for Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties, and West Pasco County, the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims Bar Association, as well as the Puerto Rican Bar Association. Carol is a member of the National Organization for Social Security Claimants’ Representatives.
Carol has been involved in her community wherever she has lived, participating in voter registration drives, community legal education, religious education, political campaign volunteering, and legal education for elementary and middle school students.
Carol began working for the firm in 2002, and became a shareholder in 2005.
